Kelsey Bateman, who was among the contestants vying for the affection of Poison frontman Bret Michaels on the reality series ‘Rock of Love,’ has passed away at the age of 39. This news was confirmed by family members in a statement to TMZ.
While specific details regarding the cause and location of her death have not been disclosed, a family relative mentioned that her passing was sudden and unexpected.
Bateman resided in the Salt Lake City area and most recently worked in sales for Vox Nutrition, a private label supplement manufacturing company in Utah, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Her stint on ‘Rock of Love’ is perhaps most memorable for its dramatic conclusion. Having advanced to the final ten contestants, Bateman’s erratic behavior, occasionally fueled by alcohol, raised concerns for Michaels. “At some point I looked over during the concert and you were no longer there,” Michaels remarked during her elimination.
In a confessional segment, Bateman reflected on the mounting pressures of the competition, stating, “I ended up laying on a speed bump bawling my eyes out, but you know what? I’m here and I’m ready for whatever Bret has to say to me.”
Upon announcing her departure from the show, Michaels expressed his admiration for her, saying, “I think you’re awesome and a beautiful girl, and I said sometimes I have to make decisions for people. And my decision for you is that I’m going to let your tour end here.”
In her final moments on air, Bateman shared her thoughts, saying, “I’m going to go home and I’m going to be single. I’m not going to think about guys for a while, but the next guy I find definitely won’t be 44 and probably not a rock star.”
