Overview of Upcoming Releases
Nintendo’s Switch 2 is approaching its three-month milestone, and as we enter the busy Q3 and Q4 period, game publishers are preparing to capture consumer spending ahead of the holiday season, which is drawing near.
The Switch 2 is gradually expanding its game library, competing with the plethora of titles still available for the original Switch. The long-awaited launch of Silksong adds even more excitement for players yet to acquire Nintendo’s latest console.
Below, we present a selection of the most exciting games for both Switch 2 and the original Switch scheduled for release in the upcoming two months. While we’ve highlighted key titles, there are additional noteworthy games and accessories also expected to arrive.
New Switch 1 & 2 Games for September & October 2025
Daemon x Machina: Titanic Scion – September 5
The sequel to Marvelous’ original entry from 2019, this stylish mecha action game is back on Switch 2. Marvelous remains committed to releasing traditional, physical games on this new platform.
Developed by Kenichiro Tsukuda and featuring impressive mechanical designs by Shoji Kawamori, Daemon x Machina: Titanic Scion takes the franchise into an exciting new direction as humanity begins its fight for liberation.
FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles – September 5
This remastered version of the classic PlayStation title includes both the original and updated experiences. While set to release for both Switch 1 and 2, players will need to download the Switch 2 version as it comes as a code in a box. Fortunately, the upgrade is free but will take up storage space on your device.
Originally launched in 1997, FINAL FANTASY TACTICS is beloved for its deep character-driven narrative, strategic gameplay that emphasizes positioning, and extensive customization options for character abilities. The remaster offers numerous improvements, making it the best way to experience the game.
Borderlands 4 – October 3 (Game-Key Card)
It’s important to note that this ‘physical’ release is actually a Game-Key Card, meaning the game must be entirely downloaded and isn’t stored on the cartridge.
As one of the main installments in a popular franchise, Borderlands 4 invites players to ignite a resistance against the tyrannical Timekeeper amidst a world-altering catastrophe. Experience free-form combat, co-op options for up to four players, and a treasure trove of diverse loot drops while engaging with both familiar and new characters.
Pokémon Legends Z-A – October 16
This next Pokémon installment needs little introduction as it welcomes players to Lumiose City. In the Z-A Royale tournament, Trainers will engage in unique real-time battles that may feature Mega Evolutions.
Persona 3 Reload – October 23 (Game-Key Card)
Also a Game-Key Card, this remake of the acclaimed RPG offers fresh scenes and character interactions. Experience life and death intertwined during the Dark Hour, battling through the mysterious tower of Tartarus while building meaningful connections with unforgettable characters.
Additional Upcoming Titles
Beyond the highlighted games, a variety of retail titles for both Switch 1 and 2 are set to launch in the coming months.
