Apple’s Bold Shipment Forecast for iPhone Fold

Apple’s eagerly anticipated ‘iPhone Fold’ is still a year away from launch, yet recent insights from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest the company is already boosting its shipment projections for this innovative device.

Significant Increases in Forecasts

As preparations ramp up for the full unveiling of the iPhone 17 lineup, speculation surrounding future iPhones is intensifying. Kuo emphasizes that the iPhone Fold is set to become the standout model in the iPhone 18 series, expected to debut in 2026.

According to Kuo, Apple has made noteworthy adjustments to its shipment forecasts:

  • 2026: Revised upward to 8–10 million units from an earlier estimate of 6–8 million.
  • 2027: Adjusted to 20–25 million units, a significant increase from the previous forecast of 10–15 million.

Kuo, known for his reliable supply chain insights, suggests these revisions are likely to be accurate. The shift from 6–8 million to 8–10 million units in 2026 marks a considerable leap, indicating strong market expectations.

The 2027 projections are particularly striking. An increase to 20–25 million units reflects a growing belief within Apple that the market is ready for foldable technology to become mainstream.

Consumer Interest and Market Readiness

While the price point could present a challenge for potential buyers, there appears to be substantial consumer interest in foldable devices. Anecdotally, many individuals have expressed a willingness to invest in a compelling foldable product.
