Filmmaker Woody Allen, who did not cast his vote for Donald Trump, nonetheless had positive remarks about the former president’s performance on set during the filming of the 1998 movie ‘Celebrity.’ In a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s ‘Club Random’ podcast, Allen discussed his experiences working with Trump.

Allen expressed that directing Trump was a pleasurable experience, highlighting his acting skills. He stated, “He was a pleasure to work with and a very good actor. He was very polite and hit his mark and did everything correctly and had a real flair for show business.”

Trump’s Cameo in ‘Celebrity’

In ‘Celebrity,’ Trump made a brief cameo as himself, where he humorously mentioned plans to buy and demolish St. Patrick’s Cathedral to construct a taller, more aesthetically pleasing building.

Political Views and Artistic Judgment

During the discussion, Maher pointed out that Allen’s praise might upset some individuals, to which Allen clarified that while he does not share Trump’s political views—having voted for Kamala Harris—his personal interactions with Trump were positive. He jokingly expressed his desire to direct Trump again in the Oval Office, suggesting they could collaborate on further liberal policies, though he acknowledged the improbability of that scenario.

Allen concluded, “I can only judge what I know from directing him in film. And he was pleasant to work with, very professional, and very polite to everyone.”
