Women’s Champion to be Decided at Wrestlepalooza

Wrestlepalooza Announcement

A new Women’s World Champion will be officially crowned at WWE Wrestlepalooza.

Stephanie Vaquer and IYO SKY will compete for the title at the Premium Live Event on Saturday, September 20, in Indianapolis. Both wrestlers were previously promised shots at the Women’s World Championship, which was vacated by Naomi two weeks ago when she announced her pregnancy.

Match Background

The match between Vaquer and SKY was announced by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce through a video message aired during today’s episode from France.

Vaquer secured her championship opportunity by winning a battle royal at WWE Evolution earlier this summer, intended for the Clash in Paris. However, those plans altered following Naomi’s forfeiture of the title. Similarly, SKY was prepared to challenge for the championship against Naomi prior to the scheduled Clash in Paris, but this match was also canceled due to Naomi’s inability to compete.

Potential Title Reigns

If Vaquer triumphs in this bout, it will mark her first title reign on WWE’s main roster, having previously held championships in NXT and internationally with promotions such as CMLL and NJPW.

SKY, known for her prior reign as Women’s World Champion before Naomi cashed in at Evolution, is also seeking to reclaim the title.

Event Details

Wrestlepalooza marks WWE’s first Premium Live Event in the ESPN era, and it will broadcast live on ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

WWE Wrestlepalooza is set for Saturday, September 20.
