The distinguished reality star, Karen Huger, has been released after serving six months in prison for a DUI incident in 2024. Huger, known for her role on the Real Housewives of Potomac, stepped out of the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville, Maryland, on Tuesday, according to a report by Page Six.
Initially sentenced to one year in prison by a Montgomery County judge back in February, the 61-year-old Huger has now returned to her life six months earlier than anticipated.
Post-Release Conditions
Following her release, Huger faces specific restrictions. As reported by TMZ, she is prohibited from driving for another year. Additionally, when sentenced, Huger was fined $2,900, placed on five years of supervised probation, and required to install a Breathalyzer device in her vehicle. It remains uncertain whether these terms have been modified since her return.
Circumstances of the Case
In March 2024, Huger was convicted of several charges, including driving under the influence, careless driving, and failure to control speed. The Montgomery County Police Department indicated that she was driving her Maserati aggressively and crashed into a pole. During the trial, body-cam footage depicted her making unusual comments, referring to herself as Thomas Jefferson’s “concubine” and complimenting the appearance of a female firefighter.
Future on Reality Television
Despite her absence from filming the tenth season of Bravo’s series, there is optimism surrounding her return. Fans eagerly await updates on her situation and hope to see Huger back on screen soon. As one supporter remarked, “Andy Cohen, if you’re listening, we want Karen.”
