Apple’s Upcoming Launch Event
Apple has officially revealed the date for its iPhone 17 launch event, dubbed the “Awe Dropping” event, which will take place on Tuesday, September 9. While the tech giant provided only a teaser image hinting at what’s to come, speculation about the new products has been rampant.
Anticipated Product Releases
The star of the show will undoubtedly be the iPhone 17 series, which includes the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air—a super-slim model that promises to make waves in the smartphone market. Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple may unveil a new Apple Watch Ultra 3 and an Apple Watch SE 3, continuing its tradition of announcing updated watches during the fall season. Other expected products include the upgraded AirPods Pro 3 and the much-anticipated HomePod with a screen, long speculated but never confirmed.

iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 is expected to feature four significant updates. The most notable is the introduction of a 120Hz display, a feature previously reserved for Pro models that enhances scrolling fluidity and increases frame rates in compatible apps. Additionally, the display size is anticipated to increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, potentially reducing bezel size.
Furthermore, a major update to the front-facing camera is expected, with a transition from 12MP to 24MP and a new six-element lens design promising improved selfie quality. Charging speed is also set to increase from 20W to a rumored 35W.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max
Apple seems dedicated to strengthening its Pro line, encouraging users to opt for the higher-end models. The only differences between the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be size (6.3 inches vs. 6.9 inches) and battery life. Both models will reportedly house the new 3nm A19 Pro chip, enhancing performance across computing, graphics, and AI tasks. An upgrade in RAM from 8GB to 12GB is expected, along with new cooling technology designed for the demands of the A19 Pro chip.

In a significant departure from previous designs, Apple will introduce the iPhone 17 Air, a thinner alternative to the Plus-size model, measuring approximately 5.5mm. It will include a 24MP front camera and the faster 35W charging. However, this slim profile requires compromises, such as using a smaller 2,900mAh battery, as well as a less sophisticated camera setup, reportedly featuring only a single 48MP rear lens.

Rumors about the HomePod 3 posit a new design featuring a larger OLED display that may pivot and follow users. This device is rumored to serve as a central hub for smart home operations, equipped with a FaceTime camera for video calls and presence sensors to automate home routines.
